For those that have very localized pain, the pain location diagram may not provide a sufficient level of granularity to describe where you’re feeling pain with each entry. If this is the case, you should continue the following two suggestions for recording entries.
The most direct solution would be to use the comments section to record the specific details about where your pain is affecting you. For example, you might record “Pain is centered on exterior of right knee.” These comments are visible in the Pain History view so you can review how your pain changes from entry to entry.
A more automated method can be to create your own Pain Descriptions that describe both the feeling and the location of your pain. So, rather than just having a description of “Sharp”, you could have “Sharp—Exterior Knee”. You might even need multiple entries to deal with pain in multiple areas. You can be as specific as needed since there is no limit on the number of custom entries you can add.
The nice thing about using the custom Pain Descriptions is that these are aggregated in the Pain Reports so you’ll have even more insight into where the majority of your pain is occurring.
