Yes, it is possible to do this, although it requires a couple of steps. In the world of iPhone, applications are kept very separate from one another, so transferring data between two apps requires moving the data off the phone and then back into the destination application.
There are two methods for making the database switch. We'll describe both of them here, although the first method using iTunes will probably be the easiest for novices. Users wanting to also set up a backup/restore service might want to look at the second method. (Note: In both cases, the "new" database in your recently purchased Full version of Chronic Pain Tracker will be replaced by the database from the Lite version. So, if you have any entries already made in the Full version, these will be lost during the process.)
NOTE: The backup/restore process not only deals with your database, but also any report PDF, CSV, and XML files that have been generated. Normally you won't need to bring those files into the new version, so it is best to delete them before starting this process. Otherwise, the backup can take a very long time. To delete these files, just scroll to the bottom of the Reports list. You'll see a red button to \"Clean-Up\" the report output files. Tap it and you'll be ready to proceed with the instructions below.
Lite Database Migration Using Apple iTunes
1 - Connect your device to your Mac/PC which holds iTunes
2 - When you see your device in the left column, click on it. Then look for the "Apps" tab along the top of the window.
3 - Scroll down and you'll see a section which reads File Sharing. You should see both Pain Tracker Lite and Pain Tracker listed.
4 - When you click on each icon, it will show you the contents of the Documents folder for that specific app. In the case of Pain Tracker, you're going to see several files including:
* ChronicPainTracker.sqlite - the main database
* medList.plist - customized Medication table
* painDescriptionsML.plist - customized painDescription table
5 - Okay, now, let's first backup the Lite version files to a location on your Mac/PC. Just click on the Lite icon, select all the files in the Documents window and click the Save to button. Select a location to save the files (eg. Lite version backup).
6 - Now, you need to click on the Pain Tracker icon so that we can Add the files we just backed up. Click on the Add button, navigate to the spot where you made the backup and click Okay. You'll get a warning that your existing files will be overwritten, but that's the idea in this case. If had also created a custom medication or pain description list in the Lite version, you can also add those files to the Full version, so you won't miss a beat.
7 - Finally, launch Pain Tracker and it should have all your entries from the Lite version.
Lite Database Migration Using SyncDocs Backup & Restore
This method uses the Backup/Restore feature in Chronic Pain Tracker 2.0. Follow these steps and you'll be off and running with your new \"full\" version of the application. Its important you do this migration prior to entering new data into Chronic Pain Tracker because this process will replace the current database with the one from the Lite version.
1) Launch the Chronic Pain Tracker Lite version on your device and go to the Backup/Restore option under the Data Admin tab.
2) You will also need to launch the SyncDocs client on your PC or Mac computer. Note: if you haven't used the Backup/Restore feature yet, you should review the SyncDocs process by clicking on the \"Get Started with SyncDocs\" button.
3) On your device, select \"Backup Files\". This will transfer your Lite version database to your PC or Mac running the SyncDocs client.
4) Once you get the confirmation message indicating the transfer was complete, close the Lite version of the application.
5) Now launch the full Chronic Pain Tracker application.
6) Go to the Backup/Restore menu under the Data Admin tab.
7) Click \"Restore Files\" and select the folder you just created on your PC/Mac in step 3. This will copy the database from the computer to your mobile device.
8) Restart Chronic Pain Tracker and you should have your old \"Lite\" data in the upgraded version.
